Ease TB regulations say SBCA |

THE SCOTTISH Government is being urged to consider easing the control regulations for TB testing. The call comes from the Scottish Beef Cattle Association following a presentation to the association's board of directors by Scotland's chief vet Simon Hall. The SBCA has welcomed the achievement of OFT status for Scotland last year but believes it is time to see some changes to the control regulations. |

Bluetongue (BTV8) - implementation of a Lower Risk Zone on 12 June 2010 Scotland achieves lower risk status for Bluetongue Farmers praised for diligence The diligence of Scotland’s livestock keepers in keeping bluetongue out of the country has led to Scotland achieving lower risk status for the disease. The Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health (SCoFCAH) in Brussels has agreed to reduce the status from a Bluetongue (BTV8) Protection Zone to a Bluetongue (BTV8) Lower Risk Zone (LRZ) from June 12, 2010, for Scotland, England and Wales. |

IMPLEMENTATION OF FOOD CHAIN INFORMATION FOR CATTLE, SHEEP AND GOATS ON 1 JANUARY 2010The implementation of FCI for cattle, sheep and goats completes the introduction of FCI for all food animal species - from this date FCI must be provided for all animals delivered to slaughterhouses.
